Enter the service address and ZIP code. That result is more useful than a citywide list because it connects the property to its actual refuse day and recycling cadence.

This distinction matters in Pittsburgh. The printed 2026 calendar is divided into Northern/Southern and Central/Eastern editions, and recycling weeks differ by zone. A neighborhood’s informal name, mailing address, or position on a familiar map is not a safe substitute for the City’s address result. If you have just moved, manage more than one property, or live near a zone boundary, check each service address separately.

2026 City holiday-delay dates

The City’s schedule page, last updated June 30, 2026 when we reviewed it, lists the following collection holidays. The City’s general rule is: when a listed holiday falls on or before your collection day, collection moves one day later.

The table is an annual reference, not a statement that every household moves after every holiday. Apply the City’s “on or before” rule to the property’s normal day, and check the official schedule page shortly before the date for its current instructions.

When to put containers at the curb

The City’s 2026 mailer gives residents a clear set-out window:

1. Put refuse and eligible recycling out after 6:00 p.m. on the night before collection.
2. Make sure everything is accessible no later than 6:00 a.m. on collection day.
3. Bring containers back from the curb and store them by 10:00 p.m. on collection day.

“By 6:00 a.m.” is the City’s set-out deadline. Do not treat it as a predicted truck-arrival time.

Use the property’s normal collection location and follow any address-specific City instructions.

How to use the two zone calendars

The 2026 newsletters contain useful month-by-month recycling markings, but they work only after the resident knows which edition applies. Follow this sequence:

1. Search the address in the City’s lookup.
2. Note the normal refuse weekday and next recycling date.
3. Identify the calendar edition associated with the address.
4. Use that edition to plan later every-other-week recycling dates.
5. Recheck the live result after moving, after a long service interruption, or when the City announces a route change.

The calendar colors are a planning aid. They should not be used to infer service from another block, a friend’s address, or a neighborhood-wide social post; use the City’s address result.

What to check before reporting a missed pickup

First confirm that the expected date was correct. Ask these questions in order:

• Was this the property’s regular collection day?
• For recycling, was this the correct every-other-week cycle?
• Did a listed holiday move the date?
• Were materials out and accessible by 6:00 a.m.?
• Were refuse and recycling separated and prepared under the City’s rules?
• Did the City announce a weather suspension or other service change?

Match the item to the right guide

The schedule answers when a normal City collection occurs. It does not make every household item eligible for that truck.
